Objectives:
Given case scenarios, attendee will be able to
1.  Apply certain cardiopulmonary medical test information to evaluate a patient with primary or secondary cardiopulmonary problems
2.  Assess acute symptoms and changes in cardiopulmonary status for safety
3.  Identify modifications of treatment based on acute findings
4.  Seek safe actions and provide essential documentation of events

EVALUATION:
A.  Setting and Patient Evaluation
B.  Patient Evaluation by Diagnosis
     1.  CAD Anatomy:   related signs & symptoms
     2.  CVA
     3.  Organ fialure in:  *pulmonary
                                        *CHF (Right-sided or cor pulmonale,  Left sided, or full failure)
                                        *renal failure
    4.  COPD
    5.  Cardiomyopathy-related decreased cardiac output, CHF, arrhythmias
    6.  Musculoskeletal related to CP disease:
                                       *kyphoscoliosis, pectus excavatum, pidgeon breast
                                       *thoracic and abdominal surgery
                                       *CVA-related changes and imbalances
   7.  Pneumonia:  Related pathology/Signs & Symptoms
   8.  Aneurysms:  Related pathology/Signs & Symptoms
C.  Patient Evaluation by Medical Tests
   1.  Cardiac catheterization
   2.  ECHO and MUGA Scans
   3.  CXR
   4.  GXT or Treadmill Exercise Test
   5.  PFT's
   6.  ABG's:  Oxygenation/Ventilation     Compensated vs uncompensated
   7.  Special procedures:  Aortic umbrella;  IABP; Pacemakers: continuous,
          syncronized, demand
   8.  The "unknown" problems:  seizures; vaso-vagal response; thrombus, embolus
CARDIOPULMONARY DRUGS RECOGNITION
Note major drug categories (by "root" workd or stems)
Assess drug dosages as "small, medium, or large" doses
Assess drug frequencies as related to peaks/troughs for effectiveness and timing of
     Rehab treatment sessions
Identify certain drug therapeutic levels:  especially Procan (procainamide), Theodur
    (theophylline), Digoxin (digitalis), and Potassium
CRITICAL SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS WITH RELATED ANATOMY
    1.  dizziness    2.   SOB    3.  chest pain    4.  abnormal heart rate & rhythm
    5.  abnormal blood pressure
TOOLS OF YOUR TRADE
   1.  Hands on:  pulses, fremitus, skin status
   2.  Stethoscope and BP cuff use, Pulse oximeter
   4.  Aromatic ammonia sticks, CPR, and Resuscitation Mask
TREATMENT INTENSITY GUIDELINES
Exercise Prescription components:  Intensity   Duration   Frequency   Mode
Intensity guidelines by:  HR, RPE scale use, dyspnea scale use, blood pressure thresholds, methods of controlling intensity
DOCUMENTATION TIPS for liability and safety
CASE STUDIES of "situational" decision making examples of the 5 critical
   signs/symptoms listed above.
